Randy Couture In The Scorpion King 2 (Pictures)

The Scorpion King 2For an inactive fighter, Randy Couture is anything but inactive. When he’s not busy opening up new Xtreme Couture gyms, training his fighters, or releasing biographies, which, by the way, hit book shelves yesterday, he’s off shooting movies.

His newest movie, The Scorpion King 2, is set to come out on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 19.

See how the legend of The Scorpion King began! When a young Mathayus witnesses his father’s death at the hands of the king (UFC Champion Randy Couture), his quest for vengeance transforms him into the most feared warrior of the ancient world. From the director of Resident Evil: Extinction and Highlander comes a heroic adventure filled with heart-stopping action and thrilling visual effects!

UFC 87 ‘Seek And Destroy’ In-Depth Preview

I feel ridiculous just typing the name of this pay-per-view. The big three fights on the card more than make up for it though.

The latest UFC 87 fight card and event info can be found in our fight cards section.

Tom Atencio Claims Affliction ‘Banned’ Pay-Per-View Buys To Surpass 100,000

If you would have asked anyone who’s knowledgeable about mixed martial arts if Affliction would do over 100,000 pay-per-view buys when they announced their first show, they would have told you not a chance in hell. Why would they say yes? No promotion besides the UFC has ever done over 100,000 pay-per-view buys in the US. Why would Affliction succeed where so many have failed?

Well, maybe it was as simple as putting as many of the best fighters in the world that could be found on one event and letting the fighters and the fights sell themselves. A little dose of Donald Trump wouldn’t hurt either.

That’s exactly what Affliction did, and according to VP of Affliction Entertainment, Tom Atencio, “Banned” will go beyond the 100,000 PPV buys mark.

Anderson Silva Being Added To UFC 89 To Seal Deal With Spike TV? (Update)

Anderson SilvaFor an England card, UFC 89 is looking pretty good. We already have solid fights with Michael Bisping and Chris Leben, Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva and Sokoudjou and Luiz Cane. Not bad, right?

Well, it turns out UFC 89 may get even better. With the UFC running UFC 90—a pay-per-view event—the following weekend, UFC 89 makes for a great card to put free on Spike TV. However, it’s been reported that without a big main event, Spike TV has been unwilling to pay large rights fees to broadcast the event.

With Anderson Silva’s fight against James Irvin drawing nearly 4.5 million viewers this past Saturday night, the UFC and Spike TV may have found their solution—put Silva in the UFC 89 main event.

White said that if Silva fights in September at UFC 88, that it would likely be against Cote.

Ultimate Fight Night 14 ‘Silva vs Irvin’ Averages 3.1 Million Viewers (Update)

UFC Ultimate Fight Night Silva vs Irvin PosterSpike TV has released the ratings for Ultimate Fight Night 14 ‘Silva vs Irvin,’ and they are impressive.

“The Ultimate Fighting Championship proved yet again to be the ratings champion with the hard-to-reach demographic of young men. Spike TV’s telecast of a live ‘UFC Fight Night’ on Saturday, July 19 (9:00pm-12:00am ET) featuring the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Anderson Silva, out-delivered every other channel (broadcast and cable) with Men 18-34 (903,000), Men 18-49 (1,550,000), Men 25-34 (622,000), and Persons 18-34 (1,326,000).* The telecast peaked at 11:30pm for the Silva vs. James Irvin bout drawing 3.8 million viewers and a staggering 4.9 rating for Men 25-34 and a 4.1 rating in Men 18-34.

The UFC fight card also drew more viewers than FOX’s coverage of MLB (3,072,000) earlier in the day and nearly tripled its reach of Men 18-34 (369,000) and doubled the Men 18-49 (879,000).

Affliction II Likely For November 8; Fedor, Barnett & Arlovski Expected To Participate

Affliction Entertainment

With Affliction’s debut mixed martial arts event in the books and deemed by most to be a success, the focus will now turn towards their second show. In the weeks leading up to “Banned,” Affliction VP Tom Atencio stated that they were looking at late October/early November for round two.

According to MMAJunkie.com, that looks to be the case, with the event likely taking place on the East Coast.

A source close to the organization tells MMAjunkie.com that Nov. 8 is the most likely date for the event. And although far from definitive, one rumored location for the next show is Atlantic City, N.J., which would allow Affliction to from jump from the West Coast for its debut to the East Coast for the follow-up. In addition to its proximity to lucrative New York-area markets, Atlantic City is home to Affliction executive Donald Trump’s A.C. properties, including Trump Taj Mahal.
