Bas Rutten Has A TV Show In Grand Theft Auto IV

If you happened to have picked up GTA IV yesterday, you may have got a pleasant surprise if you took a look around the dingy apartment you start the game in. There’s a TV in the corner of the room. I happened to stumble upon it yesterday before I left the apartment to check out Liberty City. I turned it on, clicked through a couple stations, and there’s Bas Rutten going psycho, ranting about solving problems with violence in his in-game TV show, “The Men’s Room.”

In short, it’s hilarious.

Fightlinker was able to dig up some video:

“Go away or I’ll punch you in the freakin’ liver” - Classic Bas Rutten

I freakin’ love it! Bas cracks me up with his obsession with the liver strike.

I can’t believe my first post about Bas was this. Well, maybe I can.

Sherk Passes First Drug Test For UFC 84

Sean SherkSean Sherk has passed his first drug test for UFC 84: Ill Will. BJ Penn was also tested and passed. According to the report by NBCSports.com, both fighters were tested randomly in their respective training locations.

I’m not sure how it can be labeled “random” when the NSAC tells you ahead of time that you’ll be subject to testing a month prior to your fight.

Tito Ortiz Training For Machida

Nothing terribly exciting, but a good glimpse inside Tito’s training camp as he prepares for Machida at UFC 84: Ill Will.

DREAM Tournaments Turning Into A Nightmare

Just one day after DREAM.2 wrapped up, it appears both the Lightweight and Middleweight GP’s are losing its top competitors left and right. Shinya Aoki, coming off a huge victory over ‘JZ’ Calvacante at yesterday’s DREAM.2, apparently suffered a facial injury that will keep him out of round two of the tournament scheduled to take place less than two weeks from now. Calvacante was contacted to come to the rescue, but it appears DREAM officials weren’t offering enough to entice ‘JZ’ back into the tournament. The winner of the Aoki/Calvacante fight was expected to be the favorite to win the tournament.

Real Life Fight Club In Silicon Valley (ESPN E:60 Video)

A little off topic, but this was just too good not to share.

This may be the best argument for kid’s MMA. If they don’t get it out of their system now, they may end up doing it when they’re forty.

If your first reaction was wtf?!?! followed by laughing your ass off, mine was too. Perhaps they could just join a MMA gym or a BJJ class instead of teeing off on each other’s heads with keyboards. Just a suggestion.

DREAM.2 Results & Thoughts

Last night, while most of us were sleeping, DREAM.2 was going on over in Japan. The biggest and perhaps only really meaningful fight that occurred was Shinya Aoki vs. ‘JZ’ Calvacante. The rest of the fights were round-one bouts for DREAM’s Middleweight Grand Prix. Notable fighters participating included Japanese MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba, top ten middleweight Denis Kang, and BJJ phenom Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza.

DREAM.2 results have been updated in our fight cards archive and results section.

Randy Couture On The Opie And Anthony Show

Randy Couture was a guest along with comedian Pat Cooper on The Opie And Anthony Show. They talked about the usual things, including Fedor, Kurt Angle and fighter pay. Randy did make an interesting comment about Dana White; he said, “I’ve got no beef with Dana.” Well, Randy, you sure had us fooled! Pat Cooper really stole the show here. I’ve never heard of him before but he’s this older comedian that is just hilarious in this segment. I would pay to watch him in an interview with Dana White. That would be fireworks.
