Sean Sherk has passed his first drug test for UFC 84: Ill Will. BJ Penn was also tested and passed. According to the report by NBCSports.com, both fighters were tested randomly in their respective training locations.
I’m not sure how it can be labeled “random” when the NSAC tells you ahead of time that you’ll be subject to testing a month prior to your fight.
Sherk is coming off a six-month suspension for testing positive for performance-enhancing agents in his system following his lightweight title defense against Hermes Franca at UFC 73. After Sherk was stripped of his title, BJ Penn defeated Joe Stevenson to capture the vacant lightweight championship. Sherk, who still maintains his innocence, feels as if he’s still the real champion. He claims Penn will “have to beat the champ to be the champ.”
Sorry Sean, I don’t think that rule applies when you’ve been found with steroids in your system.
The sad part about this story is that it’s even news.
