Gary Shaw Talks Potential Kimbo Fights With Tyson, Gannon and ‘Big Foot’ Silva

Gary ShawIf Kimbo Slice wins his fight against James Thompson on the national stage, a lot of talk is going to heat up about who his next opponent will be. Roy Nelson was the latest name to be thrown in the hat, although you must consider the source—IFL CEO Jay Larkin. It’s an appropriate fight, but barely delivers any upside to EliteXC and may not happen.

What’s All The Kaitlin Young Fuss About?

If you’re wondering why many writers in the MMA blogosphere, including myself, are picking Kaitlin Young to upset Gina Carano, here’s why. This girl is no joke. She would knock you silly.

All fights in the video are from the same night.

Keep in mind though that Gina is a better striker than Young’s opposition in this video, at least to my knowledge, so I don’t think Young’s going to just come out and destroy Gina a minute into the first round. But, as the fight goes on and Gina’s conditioning starts to wane, it should leave some openings for Kaitlin to capitalize on.

It’s going to be an exciting fight.

Kaitlin Young Comments On Gina Carano Not Making Weight

The “agreement” that Kaitlin wouldn’t disclose on camera was a 12.5% forfeiture of Gina Carano’s purse to her for missing the 141lbs weight limit. I’m sure 12.5% of whatever Gina is making for this fight is pretty damn good.

Matt Serra Confirms Fight With Matt Hughes In The Works For The Fall

It’s good to see Matt Serra taking his loss to Georges St. Pierre in stride. I thought it was stopped prematurely but like Serra said, I don’t think it would have mattered.

I don’t think the hatred between Serra and Hughes is contrived like Penn and Sherk’s bad blood was. Looks like we’ll finally see the TUF 6 coaches battle it out this fall. The question is though, will anyone still care?

Gina Carano Had To Take ‘Primetime’ Fight To Return As ‘Crush’ On American Gladiators; Missed Weight

Gina Carano had to do what she had to do. Hopefully it’s not going to cost her in her first network television bout. American Gladiators has brought her a ton of attention, so it would seem to be one of those “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situations if she loses Kaitlin Young due to a lack of training.

In semi-related news, Gina missed weight today by 4.5lbs, weighing in at 144.5 lbs with a 140lb weight limit (non-title fights are given 1lb allowance, so technically she missed it by 3.5lbs). The fight will still take place, but Gina will have to forfeit 12% of her purse to Young. This can probably be attributed to Gina’s lack of time to train, but this isn’t the first time she’s missed weight, so clearly something needs to change in her next outing.

All other fighters made weight including her opponent, Kaitlin Young.
