Earlier today we passed along news that Nick Diaz and KJ Noons would not be settling their grudge on EliteXC’s “Unfinished Business” fight card that’s scheduled to air on CBS on July 26. That is in fact the case, as Sherdog.com reports, Nick Diaz will still fight on the card, except his opponent will be Thomas Denny, not KJ Noons.
Thomas Denny (Pictures) has no problems walking into the lion’s den.
The former King of the Cage champion has agreed to face resident troublemaker Nick Diaz (Pictures) in his hometown of Stockton, Calif. on EliteXC’s second CBS-televised card at the Stockton Arena on July 26. Contracts are expected to be inked Tuesday.
Denny doesn’t pose much of a threat to Diaz, so it only makes sense that they are using this fight to promote the rematch between Diaz and Noons to the national audience for perhaps their October CBS card. It’s been said that CBS will be judging the ratings in October more heavily than they will on this upcoming July 26 event, so it makes good sense business to use Diaz in this fashion, provided he doesn’t lose.
