Mark Hunt Confirmed For DREAM.5

DREAM 5 Banner

Earlier today, speculation was running rampant that Mark Hunt was competing at DREAM.5 when the above banner surfaced on the the internet with Hunt’s picture appearing on the right side. That speculation can now be laid to rest as Mark Hunt has indeed been confirmed by DREAM as a participant for their fifth show.

DreamFighters.com has learned that Mark Hunt has been officially added to the DREAM.5 card. Mark Hunt was suppose to face Sergei Kharitonov at DREAM.5, but Mark Hunt informed DREAM that it was too little of time to train for such a ranked fighter like Sergei.

Hunt’s opponent is still unknown at this time, although you can likely cross Cro Cop off that list as he would likely be considered more dangerous to Hunt than Sergei.

Speaking of Cro Cop, he will also be fighting on the card. Jerome LeBanner has been heavily rumored to be taking on the Croatian, although nothing has been confirmed at this point. If not LeBanner, perhaps Kharitonov?

Regardless of who Hunt and Cro Cop end up fighting, DREAM.5 is shaping up to easily be DREAM’s best effort yet. With Yoshihiro Akiyama, Mirko Cro Cop, Mark Hunt, Shinya Aoki, Eddie Alvarez, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Caol Uno, Kid Yamamoto, Denis Kang (rumored), and Hayato ‘Mach’ Sakurai all expected to particpate, DREAM.5 is going to be a can’t miss MMA event.

Don’t forget DREAM.5 takes place less than 48 hours after the Affliction/UFC craziness that happens on July 19. It’s going to be an incredibly busy weekend for major mixed martial arts events.
