Hurricane Ike Postpones WEC 36

Hurricane Ike — a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 miles per hour that could threaten South Florida by the middle of next week — forced the postponement of WEC 36 on Friday in Hollywood, Fla.

The event, originally scheduled for Sept. 10, was moved to Nov. 5, according to Ryan Rogers, Sports & Entertainment Public Relations Manager for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

“The decision was made in the last half hour,” Rogers said. “Hurricane Ike looks too bad. There are too many people at risk, and it’s just not worth it.”

Just to give you guys a quick heads up, Hurricane Ike may also impact this website. My family lives in SW Florida, one of the potential areas in Florida that could be hit by Ike early next week. If that happens and Ike causes significant damage, I may have to go down to there to help out. If I do, posting will likely be delayed for a couple days. I’ll post a notice next week if that’s the case.
