What a year this guy has had first he knocks out Lee Tae-Hyun in less than a minute and submits Mark Hunt a month later. Looks impressive against Mirko Cro Cop at Dream 6 before the bout is ruled a no contest. Faces Gary Goodridge in front of a home crowd and submits the veteran early in the first round. To top it all of Overeem accepts a K1 rules match with the then worlds most feared striker and knocks him out in the first round. He is one of top 3 fighters of the year and right now easy top 5 heavyweight if not top 2.
Regarding the time line. Pictures don’t really prove any thing. He is a great HW fighter and the technical and tactical improvements he has made in the past year are not due to any substances. His worth to FEG- Dream, K1 and UFC has gone up three fold after his performance on NYE.
However I dont see him switching orgs in the next 12 months. He has at least 3 or 4 big match-ups left in Japan both in MMA and K1. A rematch with Badr Hari, Cro Cop, Fedor, a rematch with Sergei and Bojanski in K1.
