At least that’s what Thiago Alves said yesterday on Sherdog’s ‘Savage Dog Show’ .
When asked when he thought he’d be facing Georges St. Pierre, Alves responded by saying he believed that the match-up would take place “in July, at UFC 100.”
The UFC should have something big in store for fans at UFC 100, and having the welterweight title up for grabs would be a nice start. I believe the UFC will also be looking to add one more, if not two, title fights to this card as well. Title defenses by Rashad Evans or BJ Penn seem most likely at this point. Anderson Silva is set to defend his title at UFC 97, while a match-up between heavyweight powerhouse Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir is believed to be taking place at UFC 98.
Could we see three title defenses on one legendary card? Probably not, but what better time for Dana White and the UFC to try to break their sales record than UFC 100? Having three titles on the line could certainly be a step in the right direction to accomplishing that goal.
Should Anderson Silva be victorious at UFC 97, and St. Pierre retain his welterweight title in July, perhaps all the pieces will be set in place for their much anticipated showdown somewhere down the road. And who would complain about seeing those two face to face in the Octagon at UFC 100 to make the bout official?
Certainly not me.

3 title bouts 4 sure!! I would have put all 5 titles on the line at ufc 100, but guess there needs to be something worth watching before and after too. This is the best opportunity to increase awareness for mma and grow a bigger fanbase, so why hold anything back??
I would love to see the following fight card:
Evans – Machida
GSP – Alves
Penn – Florian
Cro Cop – Arlovski
Nog – Gonzaga
Wandy – Franklin
Cote – Maia
Fitch – Koscheck
Davis – Kampmann
Sanchez – Huerta
UFC 100 should be HUGE!! Hook it up..
