With knee surgery now weeks behind Mirko ‘Cro Cop’, he’s slowly getting back into training and planning his next move in the fight world.
Where he ends up though is the question. Japan still wants him, Dana hasn’t been shy about the UFC’s desire to have him back, and apparently another “US organization,” presumably Affliction, is talking to him as well.
From the Croatian daily sports newspaper Sportske-Novosti, translated by Free Fight Videos:
“I’m training as much as I can at this stage of the recovery. I’m mainly working on weights and cardio with conditioning coach Jukic. As things stand at the moment I can say that the operation went very well.” Said an optimistic Cro Cop.
“I’m in talks with the Japanese,which of course is natural, since they treated me so well over the years. And its not a secret anymore that the UFC have contacted me. I’m also in talks with another US organization.”
Apparently, Cro Cop said he will make his decision within a month.
If I had to guess, I bet he ends up back in the UFC, but either way, it doesn’t matter much to me. I just hope with his knee surgery Cro Cop is able to return to old form rather than just look old.

I’d really like to see Cro Cop back in the UFC. I don’t want to see him end up in Japan where he is fighting meaningless fights. The UFC will provide him with tough competition and that is how we can truly gauge if the old Cro Cop is back.
I’ve also heard that Overeem has been talking to Mr. White. Hmm…
Unfortunately I don’t think Cro Cop can be at the top of the UFC pecking order. I’d like to see him fight cans in Japan because he’ll make a bunch of money and won’t look so sad from losing. When he loses, he is one of the saddest looking people out there.
