Tito will have you believe that he’ll be returning in August, however, exactly who he’s fighting for, and who he’ll be facing remains a mystery. Fighthype.com breaks the news.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz was in Columbus, Ohio this weekend during UFC 96. Although he would not give out many details regarding his next fight, Ortiz did confirm, “I’m fighting in August!” One can assume that he may be referring to a possible fight on Affliction’s next event, which was also rumored to take place in August…
I’m still fairly skeptical that this will actually happen as this isn’t the first time we have heard that Tito has signed. Perhaps instead of being booked to actually fight, Ortiz is simply stating that he will be ready for around that time. If it is for Affliction, Vitor Belfort is probably the leading candidate to face off against ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’. It will be very interesting to see what kind of contract Tito will receive, and if he still holds the same drawing power that he thinks he does.
It’s all a guessing game at this point.
