Shane Carwin let his fans know via his personal website, Shane-Carwin.com, that he will require surgery to repair a broken nose he suffered this past weekend against Gabriel Gonzaga.
Just got home from the specialist and he said my nose requires surgery to repair. I have a deviated septum and the nose is in pieces. I will have surgery in the next couple of weeks and will need about 6-8 weeks to heal.
The Doctor told me he wouldn’t worry about making the nose look pretty since I am a fighter and all. Fact is my looks are what got me signed with Zuffa had I not been fighting I would of been in that fashion show in Vegas.
It appears that the injury will take approximately two months to heal before Carwin can continue training. Look for Carwin to step back into the Octagon sometime in the late summer or early fall. Surely, he will be facing some stiff competition after the has steamrolled everyone that the UFC has put in front of his up to this point.
Perhaps they should schedule his fight for only one round. I mean, he never really uses the other ones anyways, right?
