The UFC has announced that they will be holding the inaugural UFC Fan Expo in Vegas the weekend of UFC 100. Even if the current state of the economy has you tossing and turning at night and waking up in cold sweat, this could very well be worth attending. I know the second I heard about it and revisited the proposed fight card I began reevaluating my budget. Turns out if I can make it from Ottawa to Vegas and secure a ticket to the Expo and UFC 100 for twenty-four dollars (Canadian currency) then I’ll be there. Being the optimist that I am, here’s what will be waiting for me in Vegas that weekend.
“UFC Fan Expo” will be held Friday and Saturday, July 11-12, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas with meet-and-greet sessions with UFC and WEC fighters, MMA demonstrations, fan-inspired special events, training and development sessions, and other activities.
UFC Fan Expo will coincide with the pay-per-view event, which is expected to be one of the biggest UFC events in the company’s history. The event is expected to include two title fights (in both the heavyweight and welterweight divisions), a bout between the two “The Ultimate Fighter 9” coaches and other marquee attractions.
The organization expects to attract more than 100 companies and brands for the first UFC Fan Expo, which will span more than 200,000 square feet. The businesses will range from apparel to electronic gaming to sports equipment to nutritional supplements and other MMA-related companies.

Sounds like a great time to me. The UFC continues to push the mixed martial industry forward and this is yet another example of the current state of the sport. This thing seems to be growing larger each and every day, and what better time that UFC 100 to take another step towards reaching mainstream status in the sport industry? Perhaps Dana has been right along – maybe we haven’t even scratched the surface on how big this thing is going to get. That thought and the continuing growth leave me in anticipation of this epic weekend in July.
Now to find out just how far my twenty-four dollars can take me.
