Is Lyoto Machida As Good At Predicting Fights As He Is At Winning Them?

Lyoto MachidaThere’s no doubt, whether you love him or hate him, Lyoto Machida knows how to win a mixed martial arts fight. But, is he as good at predicting them?

Machida offered up his thoughts on a few of this year’s biggest fights including the upcoming Silva-Leites and Liddell-Rua fights this weekend, but his real interesting prediction was for a fight that will likely never happen—Anderson Silva vs Fedor Emelianenko.

“Anderson normally weighs (215 pounds). If Fedor fights him weighing (220), I believe Silva would win. Besides being very tactical, Anderson is way superior technically and I truly believe he has the tools to put Fedor in trouble.”

As much as I respect Machida’s opinion on anything fight related, I have to disagree with him on this one. Anderson’s great, has superior striking technique, and could certainly hurt Fedor, but the moment he gets too close, Fedor’s just going to put him on his ass, and either violently pound on him or submit him.

Or maybe he’d just knock him out. Arlovski had superior technique too.

Nevertheless, it’s a fight I’d love to see. Actually the one I’d most like to see.

I’m sure many of you have strong opinions on this match-up, so let me have it below. I can take it.
