A few more updates on UFC 2009 Undisputed courtesy of MMA Junkie.
- The TapouT crew—Punkass, SkyScrape and the late Charles “Mask” Lewis—will be unlockable characters in the game. They considered removing Mask from the game following his death, but Punkass and SkyScrape decided they wanted him to stay in it.
- Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudero come with the game if purchased from GameStop. If you purchase it elsewhere, you will be able to download them for free 90 days following the game’s release on May 19. No other downloadable content is planned.
- THQ is already working on next year’s installment of the game with plans to add more fighters. Jon Jones was cited as an example.
Also, it was reported the other day that according to Microsoft, UFC 2009 demo downloads are in the top one percent of all XBox Live downloads. Shortly thereafter, Bloomberg published a report predicting the game would sell 2 million units over the next nine months. THQ, however, seems to believe that number might be a little low. For the record, the 10th best selling XBox 360 game, Guitar Hero II, sold 2 million on the XBox alone, so even 2 million on both systems sounds pretty good. Hopefully, the demo downloads stat is a strong indicator of how the game will sell.
