Hughes Knows Serra’s A ‘Big Slugger’

I hate you more.

I hate you more.

Matt Hughes recently spoke with The Canadian Press and believes he will have what it takes to take out arch-nemesis, Matt Serra, when the two finally collide inside the Octagon on May 23rd.

Of course I’ve learned from his one-hit wonder on GSP that he’s a big slugger,” Hughes said of Serra. “But I think it will go my way and my wife tells me that I will go all three rounds and he will be a bloody mess when I get done.

His one-hit wonder on GSP? Was that the same one that you loved, Matt? It appeared to me that Hughes and Sherk were both fairly happy when Serra dethroned current Welterweight Champion Georges St.Pierre.

Furthermore, how great would it have been if Hughes’ wife had constantly been telling him that the fight would go three rounds, but that Serra would get the better of the country boy? I still have no idea why the opinion of his wife comes into play here, but if BJ can bring his mother to his hearing, why can’t Mrs. Hughes back her husband going into this grudge match?

Surely Matt Hughes will be trying to finish Serra in their long-awaited clash next weekend, but if he isn’t able to do so and has to settle for a decision, it seems as though Serra will be hoping to finish himself off.

It always sucks when you lose, but if I lose to Matt Hughes I’ll want to kill myself…

An appropriate reaction given the circumstances, no?
