Yesterday, at the Trump Tower in NYC, Affliction officially announced their third event “Trilogy” headlined by Fedor Emelianenko & Josh Barnett. Thanks to The Fight Nerd, video of the press conference can be seen above. It’s basically your standard presser until the 3:30 mark when M-1’s Joost Raimond takes the podium and proceeds to call out the UFC to put their top fighters up against the rest of the world’s best (props to The Fight Nerd for capturing Donald Trump’s and Mark Cuban’s befuddled reactions).
In related news, Ariel Helwani scored an interview with Fedor and asked him what specific terms in the UFC’s offer he had a problem with. Fedor revealed the UFC hadn’t made an offer in two years, and his biggest gripe with their contract was the champion’s clause, which basically extends the contract indefinitely if the fighter continues to win and holds onto the belt. Seems to me like a reasonable concern for someone who’s never legitimately lost a fight. That interview is after the jump.
