Cro Cop Back In Croatia, DREAM Deal Finalized? (Update: Japan Report Before UFC 99)

Cro Cop arrived back in Zagreb, Croatia this morning. As usual, he was greeted by reporters and talked a little about his fight. Reporters also asked him about the DREAM news. Here’s the translation of the story courtesy of Robert K at

Cro Cop Without Comment; “Thats a trade secret”

Mirko Filipovic arrived in Zagreb, and journalists were greeted with a dance. A happy but tried Cro Cop did not have enough time to sleep. As for the fight, well, he was pleased with his performance.

‘I tired to protect my knee,’ said Cro Cop, referring to the knock-out after only three minutes of fighting. His knee was never an issue for the fight. However he was unhappy that his opponent tried to target it, it was unsportsmanlike he thought.

As for the continuation of his career, and recent stories about his departure from the UFC and the Japanese Dream, Cro Cop had no comment. He could stay with the UFC, or switch to a Japanese Dream, and other associations are not impossible. However, Filipovic had no intention to talk about his future until they a deal is finalized.

‘This is a trade secret, I do not want to talk about it,’ he explained.

Tomorrow Mirko is going to have vacation in Pula.

The report basically says Cro Cop has yet to finalize any deals, however Robert K informed me Cro Cop never actually says that in the video so who knows. Perhaps, he hasn’t actually signed with DREAM and is using it as leverage to get a better deal. Or maybe this reporter just assumed it wasn’t finalized since he refused to talk about it. I don’t know, but with Mirko going on vacation, it’s probably going to be awhile before we find out anything solid, at least from his side.

Update: This definitely sounds like a done deal. According to Nightmare of Battle, published this report announcing Mirko’s three-fight deal with DREAM before UFC 99 even happened. Apparently, Mirko received 450 emails from his Japanese fans when he annoucned his UFC comeback and ultimately decided to go back to Japan where his mother Ana says he is respected (I’m quite certain there was a lot more to it than that). Cro Cop’s current plan is fight for DREAM in July, September and NYE. He apparently had to win the Al-Turk fight to get the July DREAM fight.
