“Please, I want a rematch Dana (White). You’re the boss, but I want a rematch. I want to fight Rich Franklin again. Judges sometimes have an opinion, but I’m thinking I want to fight Rich Franklin again. I want a rematch.”
—Wanderlei Silva pleading with Dana White for a rematch with Rich Franklin at the UFC 99 post-fight press conference
I thought the fight was close, but I’m not too sure how excited I would be for Silva-Franklin II. If the weight cut to 185 wouldn’t hurt Wanderlei, I’d prefer to see him make the move there, but after his performance yesterday at 195 that’s become a big question.
As for the inevitable retirement chatter, Dana didn’t pull a Liddell and say Wanderlei’s retiring. He merely said they’ll sit down with Wanderlei when they’re back in Vegas and see what he wants to do. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but one way or the other, we haven’t seen the last of “The Axe Murderer.”

I freaking love Wanderlei, but it seems to me he has lost his bite. he has not looked impressive for a while. (beating Jardine is not impressive)
I miss the days when he came out to the ring looking like he was ready to rip someone’s head off and punt it into the crowd. He hasn’t really had that since he got in the UFC. Too much smiling. Doesn’t seem to have that edge like he used to. I still love him, will no matter if he loses his next 10, but it would be nice to see him string together a few wins.
