You can question a lot of things Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ said in the past few weeks, but when he said he wanted to fight as often as possible for the rest of the year, he wasn’t kidding.
According to SI.com’s Josh Gross, Cro Cop has agreed to fight K-1 vet Siala “Mighty Mo” Siliga at DREAM.10 in a little over a month.
Less than a week after apparently snubbing the UFC for Japanese mixed martial arts promoter Dream, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic has agreed to fight Siala “Mighty Mo” Siliga on July 20 in Saitama, Japan, a source familiar with negotiations for Dream 10 told SI.com Wednesday.
A bout between Filipovic and the 38-year-old “Mighty Mo” — 3-1 in MMA action and 14-9 as a kickboxer — was originally rumored for Dream 1. Siliga, a heavy-fisted heavyweight of American Samoan descent, won his first three MMA bouts before succumbing to a triangle choke against Semmy Schilt last New Year’s Eve.
Well, I guess that answers the question we all pretty much knew the answer to already, Mirko is signing with DREAM.
Pretty disappointing if you ask me. I guess all we can hope for now is Cro Cop finds his way into rematches with Alistair Overeem and Fedor Emelianenko, or maybe even a fight against someone like Andrei Arlovski.
But, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it if I were you.
