Well, if it were up to Zuffa, then yeah, Tito Ortiz and Frank Shamrock fighting in the UFC was all just an illusion. As Tito talks about in the video above, he’s in Vegas, but he’s not allowed to attend UFC 100 or the UFC Fan Expo, and Sherdog has a whole article on how Frank Shamrock has basically been banished from the organization. MMA Fanhouse sums up a few media members’ thoughts on the situation.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and Yahoo writes, “It’s so petty that they didn’t even allow fans to vote for the fight.”
Kid Nate at Bloody Elbow decries the UFC’s tactics in a post headlined, “UFC’s Stalinist View of MMA History Erases Frank Shamrock.”
Steve Cofield of Cage Writer and ESPN 1100 in Las Vegas says, “Frankly, this whole thing is ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous” and “petty” pretty much sum it up. I’m not the biggest Tito Ortiz or Frank Shamrock fan in the world, but you can’t deny their impact on the UFC in the earlier days of the sport. It’s not unexpected, but it is stupid, and someday it will all catch up to them…somehow.

Well me I personally think, DANA WHITE IS ALL ABOUT THE POPULARITY AND MONEY AND THE FANS ARE ALL ABOUT THE FIGHTERS, ( THE FIGHTERS ARE THE REASON WE WATCH THE FIGHTING) I DON’T WANT WRESTLERS ON UFC… THEY HAVE NOT EARNED IT. THERE ARE YOUNG FIGHTERS TRAINING AND TRAINING THAT DON’T GET TO COME ON THE SHOW AND FIGHT THE TOP CONTENDERS…. BUT LESNAR DID… WHY? WHO IS HE? NOTHING TO ME!!!! CAROL REED – the reson is when randy came back, mir and big nog already agreed to fight and randy was still the offical champ he was never striped – so when he came back they gave him brock who was coming off a big win against Heath Herring so the mir and nog fight was for a interterm belt – it means nothing that mir beat him a year and 1/2 ago because brock beat the then champ randy and is now the champ
