Another Affliction fighter has found a home.
According to Fighters Only Mag, British welterweight Paul Daley has signed a four-fight deal with the UFC. It’s unknown at this point when and where he will make his debut.
A source close to the fighter confirmed on Wednesday night that [Paul Daley] has joined the UFC’s welterweight roster.
The UFC is putting together a card for Manchester, England in November and Nottingham man Daley would certainly be a local favourite.
But Fighters Only has been given to understand that the UFC is also interested in using Daley on shows in the US.
Strikeforce could have certainly used him, but this is a perfect fit for the UFC. He probably won’t be knocking on GSP’s door anytime soon, but he’s an exciting UK fighter with a lot of personality which is exactly what the UFC needs more of.
Update: Good lord, apparently you can’t believe any Affliction fallout news. MMA Fanhouse says this isn’t a done deal either.
British welterweight Paul “Semtex” Daley is still in negotiations with a number of promotions and a deal with the UFC has not yet been finalized, contrary to the reports Wednesday of a four-fight deal.
“These reports are premature, we have signed nothing,” Daley’s manager told FanHouse Thursday morning. “We’re in talks with groups, one of whom includes the UFC.”
