Dana On Lesnar-Carwin: ‘Someone’s Going To Get Their Head Knocked Off’

Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin

“Brock is ready to go now and wants to fight. Carwin makes the most sense. He’s 11-0, and he’s been kicking the [expletive] out of everybody. [Gabriel] Gonzaga destroyed [Mirko] Cro Cop and he [Carwin] totally destroyed Gonzaga…He hates Brock Lesnar. It’s going to be two huge guys going at it. He’s got the power to knock anybody out and he’s got great wrestling too. He’s one of the guys that has the size to match up with Brock, too. This is one of those fights that could be wild. Someone’s going to get their head knocked off.”

—Dana White, via Yahoo! Sports, already promoting the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin

Just as a reminder, here’s what Shane Carwin wrote on his website following UFC 100 in reaction to Brock’s post-fight antics.

“The flipping off of the fans that just lined your pocket with millions of dollars is just lame. He may be a champion, but he has a long ways to go before he earns the respect of a champion. The fans are why we do this, Brock. This sport is not about fat paychecks and drama. It is about hard work and sacrifice for a shot to do what you did [that] night. It doesn’t matter how much money you make if you can’t earn your peers’ respect and the respect and love of the greatest sporting fans in the world…We have no scripts in this sport, no predetermined earning amount and no predetermined outcomes. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it matters how you win or lose.”

This will be a pretty easy fight for the UFC to promote. Brock’s the big bad pro wrestler who pisses all the fans off while Shane Carwin is the humble mixed martial artist who believes respect and honor are more important than fame and fortune. Not to mention, he’s also the only guy in the UFC who comes close to matching up with Brock physically.

Personally, I’m pretty excited about it. Some will say Carwin is essentially an inferior version of Lesnar. Brock’s a little bit bigger, quicker, more athletic and has better wresting credentials. I won’t disagree, but when you have two guys that big with that much power in the cage together, anything can happen. They both have heavy hands, and neither have proved to be all that good at blocking or slipping punches, so Dana might be right. There’s a good chance someone’s going to get their head knocked off.
