The UFC lightweight title fight between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez has a date and location. The big fight will go down at UFC 107 on December 12 in Memphis, Tennessee. BJ Penn and Dana White announced it in the video above (Dana gets BJ pretty good btw).
At UFC 102, Dana said they were hoping to book Penn-Sanchez for a third Nov. show and if it materialized it wouldn’t air on Spike or pay-per-view. Obviously, that’s not happening so does this mean the TV deal Dana was working on this week fell through?
As it stands, UFC 107 is shaping up to be a pretty sweet card. Frank Mir is expected to take on Cheick Kongo, Thiago Alves will probably destroy Paulo Thiago and the grudge match between TUF 10 coaches Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans was believed to be the headliner prior to this announcement. What we don’t know is if the Rampage-Rashad fight will remain on the card as a co-main event or if it will be moved. Last we heard, Rampage’s management team was meeting with Dana at UFC 102 to discuss postponing the fight so Rampage could star in The A-Team movie remake. If the fight stays though, Memphis is going to get one hell of a show.
