Injured Mousasi Forced To Withdraw From DREAM’s ‘Super Hulk’ Tournament

Fedor vs Mousasi exhibition

Gegard Mousasi was easily the favorite to win DREAM’s “Super Hulk” Tournament heading into the semi-final rounds at DREAM.11. Not anymore though.

MMA Weekly is reporting that Mousasi has suffered an injury that has forced him to withdraw from the tournament.

Gegard Mousasi has been forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout with Rameau Thierry Sokodjou in the semifinals of the Super Hulk Tournament at Dream 11, has been told by multiple sources close to the situation. The Japanese promotion is currently trying to find a replacement opponent for the Oct. 6 event, which also features the promotion’s Featherweight Grand Prix Finals.

According to one source, Mousasi may have injured his shoulder during a grappling exhibition with Fedor Emelianenko at M-1: Breakthrough last month in Kansas City.

Tough break for Mousasi, but let’s be honest, it’s not like we’re going to miss much with Sokoudjou, Hong Man Choi and Minowaman in the remaining slots. I just hope Mousasi got paid well for the Fedor exhibition match because he’s no longer getting a pay check on Oct. 6.
