TUF 10 Is ‘A Leap Of Faith’ For Roy Nelson

Roy Nelson was about as unlikely an individual to join The Ultimate Fighter as Kimbo Slice. He’s more accomplished than anyone from previous casts, with maybe the exception of a few from TUF 4. He’s fought some of the best in the world including Andrei Arlovski, Jeff Monson and Ben Rothwell who is slated to fight Cain Velasquez in the UFC 104 co-headliner.

So what the hell is Roy Nelson doing on The Ultimate Fighter? The answer is simple really. It’s about money. It’s about getting the exposure he needs to reach his long term goal of making $10 million over the course of his career. He’s the odds-on favorite to win the show and he has a secret weapon, his belly. The way Roy figures it, people are either going to hate him because he looks more like fat trucker than a professional athlete or they’re going to love him because they look more like him than your typical UFC fighter. I think he might be on to something. A few victories and couple belly rubs in front of record-setting audiences and Roy’s fan base is definitely going to grow, if not explode.
