King Mo Inks Deal With Strikeforce

King Mo Adjusting the crown

If there’s something Strikeforce could use more of, it’s quality fighters with potential star power. There aren’t too many of those floating around in free agency, but Strikeforce managed to land one of the few — “King Mo” Lawal.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce and could make his promotional debut as early as December, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations.

The deal allows the undefeated Lawal, a NCAA Div. 1 All-American wrestling champion for Oklahoma State in 2003 and decorated international competitor, to continue competing on the Japanese circuit.

Sweet pick-up for Strikeforce. King Mo is still relatively green in MMA, but he’s shown a ton of potential to be an elite competitor down the line with a ton of charisma to attract the casual fanbase.

The question is what will Strikeforce do with him? Give him a few mid-level opponents and build him up to a title fight with Mousasi? Or throw him in the deep end after one win?

Everyone is buzzing over this signing. Great job done here by Strikeforce. Not too long ago, no one could mention more than 1 or 2 fighters in the HW and LHW division. They are starting to change that quickly.
