Shogun Thought He Won Four Rounds, Hoping For Rematch

Shogun Punches Lyoto Machida at UFC 104

“I’m sure that I won, everybody thinks that I won. I talked with a lot of people here and they thought that I won, but unfortunately I think that they gave him the victory because some interests. Everyone was surprised with what happened in the end, but what can I do?…In my point of view, being fair, I won four rounds. People thought the same, Dana White, Lorenzo (Fertitta), Rickson Gracie was beside us… Everyone gave me the victory.”

—Mauricio “Shogun” Rua telling Tatame.com that he thought he won four out of the five rounds to earn the decision victory over Lyoto Machida at UFC 104

Shogun’s manager/translator Eduardo Alonso added:

“It was unanimous here, there was no single person who didn’t give the victory to Mauricio…This fight had a double sad taste, but also pride. Once again nobody believed on our team, just like the fight against Liddell, and we made an amazing strategy, that no one had made before…Unfortunately, we’ll have to fight twice to have what we must had today, but we hope that they accept (the rematch).”

I don’t think Alonso has to worry anymore about his team getting the respect they deserve. Plenty of people are going to believe in Shogun in the rematch.

Off course he won 4 rounds.

Rematch will be more difficult though as Machida won’t be surprised twice.

Just hope those judges of the Machida-gate will go back to boxing and that the scoring will be fair this time. Bring back Big John and ban those f*ckn corrupt judges.

    PRIDE still shines through Shogun!

You better knock out the champ if you want to win.

stupid. You might have said: “you’d better lap down everyone else if you want to win in Daytona”.

UFC 106, Machida vs Shogun 2!! Perfect solution, one month away, let them both heal up and come in with the same game plans, determining the true winner.

What’s the point of having time limits and judges if everyone says Shogun should have went for the ko. If he would have pressed he probably would have gotten ko’ed himself. Machida is the king of decisions and nobody complains about him. Machida will pull a Brock or Diego and puss out of the rematch somehow. U heard it here first, maybe a good elbow surgery like his brother.

Machida will be back in top form, and this time Shogun will have to go for the kill.
Now they both know what to expect..what will their strategy be? I think Shogun had a better chance the 1st time, now the pressure is really on. Im geared up for the epic rematch.
