The Fights

Minus (-) = favorite | Plus (+) = underdog

With a line of -150 & +150, you would have to wager $150 to win $100 if you’re picking the favorite. You would win $150 for every $100 if you bet on the underdog assuming he won.

Good luck!

Forrest Griffin (-135) vs Tito Ortiz (+105)

Tito Ortiz & Forrest Griffin Faceoff at UFC 106 Pre-Fight Press ConferenceIt’s been 18 long months since we’ve seen Tito Ortiz step inside the Octagon. He left the UFC back in May 2008 as a former champ whose better days were behind him. Now he’s returned with a new back and a renewed energy ready to prove to the world that Tito Ortiz is still an elite-level mixed martial artist. Meanwhile, his opponent Forrest Griffin, who established himself as a championship caliber fighter during Tito’s layoff, is coming off the most disheartening loss of his career against Anderson Silva.

Both men desperately need wins on Saturday night. Tito hasn’t beat a high-level opponent since UFC 59 when he fought none other than Forrest Griffin, and even then there was a lot of controversy surrounding his win. Forrest on the other hand is coming off two straight losses. He lost his UFC light heavyweight title back in December to Rashad Evans and then ran straight into every punch Anderson Silva threw at UFC 101. Like I said, both men need this win.

While this fight may very turn into a continuation of their first meeting, they won’t be the same fighters they were back in 2006. Tito says he wasn’t 100% then like he is now and Forrest Griffin has undoubtedly improved as a fighter. That makes this one a little difficult to predict, but it’s likely going to hinge on whether or not Tito can successfully take Forrest down and deliver a beating. If not, he’s probably going to be fighting an uphill battle on the feet. Tito has made an effort to improve his striking but we won’t know how far he’s come along until we see him in live fight scenario. Perhaps he can now hold his own with Forrest there, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

As much as I’d like to say this is the beginning of a career resurrection for Tito, there’s too many unknown variables. Griffin is a solid well-rounded fighter and I believe he’ll finish what he started on Saturday night.

Anthony Johnson (-120) vs Josh Koscheck (-110)

Josh Koscheck & Anthony Johnson Faceoff at UFC 106 Pre-Fight Press ConferenceAnthony Johnson is making a quick turnaround from his UFC 104 fight against Yoshiyuki Yoshida. He ended it early without taking any damage and was quite embarrassed for missing weight as bad as he did, so I’m expecting him to come in top shape for Josh Koscheck despite the short notice. Koscheck isn’t getting a full training camp in either, but that kid is always ready to go, so I think we’ll see both fighters on point despite the abbreviated preparation time.

Koscheck may be the more established fighter in the UFC, but he definitely has a tough challenge in front of him. Johnson is huge for 170 lbs. and should probably be a middleweight. Koscheck has shown a tendency to stand-up and trade instead of relying on his superior wrestling lately, but I don’t think he wants to engage in a striking war with Johnson. Anthony will have a considerable reach advantage and hits extremely hard, so I don’t see things ending well for Koscheck there. If Kos is smart he’ll go to his wrestling, but even then I’m not sure he’ll be able to take Johnson down at will like he has with other opponents in the past.

Personally, I think Johnson is going to emerge in 2010 as a legitimate challenger for Georges St. Pierre and I think this fight against Josh Koscheck will put him in that discussion.

Johnson by TKO

Amir Sadollah (-220) vs Phil Baroni (+175)

The New York Bad Ass is back in the UFC, but will it be a triumphant return? Against someone like Sadollah who’s only had two professional fights, it should be a no-brainer, but as we saw on TUF 7, Sadollah has game for someone with such minimal MMA fight experience. Plus, Baroni hasn’t beaten anyone of note since 2006 at best. I wouldn’t put it past Baroni to pull it off, but I’m not expecting him to win either, especially with his half empty gas tank.

Sadollah by TKO

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (-150) vs Luiz Cane (+120)

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira makes his long-awaited UFC debut against Luiz Cane. In his first four UFC bouts, Cane has shown the potential to be a future title contender in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, but Lil Nog is a big step up in competition for Cane, and he’ll need to step up his game a bit if he wants to take him out. I wouldn’t be shocked if Cane pulls it off, but I think Nogueira’s seasoned boxing will outlast Cane for the decision.
