It appears the UFC has made James Toney a formal offer. It’s just not what Toney was expecting.
“Dana White’s first offer was a joke and that let’s me know he really don’t want to do this…I know [MMA purses don't compare to major boxing purses], but this offer was laughable. That’s the reason I wanted the camera guy in the room with us when I sat down with Dana, so the fans would know that I was serious and if it didn’t happen, it wasn’t because of me.”
The reality is the UFC doesn’t need James Toney by any stretch of the imagination. I don’t know what kind of money Toney is looking for, but if the UFC’s first offer wasn’t even close, he doesn’t exactly have the leverage to get what he wants. Or maybe Dana is just lowballing him to start and they’ll eventually come to terms, but really if they don’t, will anybody actually care? My guess is probably not.

Yeah right. This guy will never fight in the UFC.
I couldn’t care any less if he comes to the UFC.
James Toney would knock out most of the UFC and probably could drop two fighters in the top five heavyweights on the same night, same show!

Exactly how I feel. UFC doesn’t need him. If James wants to fight in the UFC he needs to realize he doesn’t run the show
