Frank Mir Wants To Break Brock Lesnar’s Neck

Brock Lesnar & Frank Mir

“A lot of individuals are so worried about being politically correct. I’d rather go ahead and say what’s on my mind than to sit there and come up with some PC ‘Oh, the guy is a great fighter and I have a lot of respect for him.’ If I don’t mean it, why is it even coming out of my mouth? … I want to fight Lesnar. I hate who he is as a person. I want to break his neck in the ring. I want him to be the first person that dies due to Octagon-related injuries. That’s what’s going through my mind.”

— Frank Mir in on WXDX radio, via Fanhouse, proclaiming he wants to kill Brock Lesnar in the Octagon

Naturally, these comments have created quite a stir in the MMA community. Many have taken it seriously and think Mir has gone too far to the point where the fight shouldn’t even happen. Me? I’m more with Zach Arnold. I think Frank has jumped the shark with this one. Thoughts?

  1. I think Frank Mir just guaranteed that he’ll never get a rematch with Lesnar. Those are threats, and if that fight were to happen, and if anything were to happen to Lesnar (however unlikely), it could be seen as a premeditated act with Zuffa as an accomplice.

    I am not a lawyer.

It’s clear you aren’t a lawyer. The UFC has to have ten thousand safe gaurds in place to free them from liability of a fighters death due to octagon related happenings. As a law student, I can site three federal bills that would federally mandate The UFC to make Brock aware of these statements and Frank’s intentions, but that is all they have to do. If Mir killed him in the Octagon, Legally nothing could or would be done. Let’s be real though; nobody is going to die and it certainly won’t be Brock. I would love to see Mir beat Lesnar, but I doubt it will happen soon. I would love to see Mir Beat Carwin too, but I believe it is in Mir’s best interest to lose the Carwin fight, and really take time to fine tune all his skills. He needs everyone of them to beat Lesnar. Technically speaking, Mir is better than Lesnar, but paper is nothing more than something to wipe the blood off your face with when that octagon door locks. Dos Santos and Valesquez are going to be huge rivals to Brock.

well spoken. I think Carwin will know Mir out. Carwin never leaves the first round, never loses. Velasquez is a beast too. Dos Santos keeps avoiding real talent (not his fault) we’ll see after gonzaga.

  2. Daniel

His bark is bigger than his bite. Hopefully Carwin will beat him…I really don’t wanna C Mir-Lesnar 3.

  3. Jeremy

Cain velasquez will eventually beat everyone and rule the division…..but at this rate frank Mir and Brock lesnar will fight six times and the same amount of shit talking everytime. Frank Mir is always kinda satanic in his trash talking anyway…. Just my opinion

  4. MMA is Pride

My opinion is that Mir is an arrogant smart ass. He wants to create a buzz out of trash talk to be sure to have that rematch. Look at Wand-Bisping! They were supposed to hate each other so much and it generated a big buzz around the fight. Then the match starts and the shake hands like the respectful professional fighters they are.

Mir is building here a fake lucrative “Vince Mc Mahon” grudge match in order to secure a title shot (instead of a well deserving Velasquez for example). This is just promotion, nothing real behing this.

The problem for Mir is that he’s focusing too much on Lesnar and seems to forget his approaching fight with Carwin, who might be a bigger threat actually.

    • He did mention he’s focused on Carwin. Probably should have included that, but wasn’t what the story was really about.

“Forty pounds among skilled athletes matters,” Mir said. “A big guy as skilled as Lesnar, especially with his wrestling, is a whole different scenario. I don’t know if I’ll ever be as strong as Brock Lesnar — he seems to have pretty good genetics in that category — but I think I can close the gap.”

But as much as he’s thinking about Lesnar, Mir was careful to make clear that he’s not looking past his UFC 111 opponent, Shane Carwin. In fact, Mir called Carwin “a better version” of Lesnar.

“He poses the same threat as Brock does as far as his wrestling ability, but Carwin has knocked out several people now,” Mir said. “No one has made it past the first round with this guy.”

I probably should have included this part too about Brock. Sorry asleep at the wheel today.

“He doesn’t like me and I can guarantee, you talk to anybody in my family, it’s a legitimate hate,” Mir said of Lesnar. “His very being bugs me just because I’ve seen a lot of children out there who look to athletes and martial artists as role models, and it just makes me cringe. I sit there and go, ‘Man, I lost to this guy the second time around and now people think that’s the way to be — be big, obnoxious and angry.’ That’s not right. We have anger toward each other. Everything I stand for he despises and dislikes, and I can tell you I truly do not like him as a person whatsoever.”

His comment about martial artists being role models to kids is pretty funny considering what he said before it.

Ya that second paragraph helps explain a little bit. But he still shouldn’t stay stuff like that. I hate Queen Latifa but I refrain from saying anything about killing her in her “beauty shop”

  5. MMA is Pride

I still think that the trash talk of Mir is more promotionnal than real but I kind of agree with him in the sense that Lesnar looks and behaves like he’s always been a Bully… Let’s put him on Bully Beatdown with Mayhem Miller!

    • Tweak

Ya I agree Lesnar doesn’t have the attitude of a role model. He always seems like an asshole

  6. SAm Snee, better recognize

dude. someone should get their penis ripped off, that would be funny, illegal, yet not too bad on the side of penalty

  7. Frank has the exact right mind set he needs in order to beat Brock,he has to mentaly transform himself into a killer and convince himself hes going to kill brock, only somewhere in the back of Mirs head he knows hes not actually trying to kill him n would never actualy go through with it. Frank is more motivated than ever and i love it.

  8. brock#1fan

Brock is 10 times better than mir and its time that mir recognize it

  9. brock#1fan

Brock lesnar is the best heavyweight out there and with his strengh and speed he can beat anybody
