None other than Mr. Quote Machine himself, Chael Sonnen, was the guest speaker at yesterday’s UFC 115 Fight Club Q&A.
No one is safe from his verbal wrath, not even two of the most respected gentleman in the sport — the Nogueira brothers.
“He’s got a black belt under the Nogueiras,” Sonnen said, referring to Silva. “I think a black belt under the Nogueiras is saying, like, I got a free toy in my Happy Meal. I don’t really understand what the big deal is. One of ’em’s a punching bag, and the other one I just ignore; he’s really irrelevant.”
Of course, he had some for Anderson Silva and his manager Ed Soares too.
“He’s the world’s most famous interpreter,” Sonnen said. “Somehow he even got himself into the [UFC] video game.”
“This is a one-sided dance,” Sonnen said. “I saved Anderson’s job. Uncle Dana was going to give him his walking papers, and I begged him, ‘Keep him around. Keep him around for one more fight. I will retire this guy.’”
And about that possibly fake, but probably real Twitter account that gave ammo to his opposition in the political arena.
“I do not have a twitter account, but I am familiar with the line…”
Of course you don’t, Chael. But wait! Ben Fowlkes has something he wants to say before we wrap this up.
Sonnen did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the Twitter account, but at the very least the UFC seems to be under the impression that it’s his account, as @sonnench appears right between @ChuckLiddell and @SugaRashadEvans on the UFC’s Twitter follow list.
What’s more, an account claiming to be the “Official Campaign Twitter” of Sonnen (Twitter.com/VoteSonnen) is following only one other Twitter user, and you can probably guess which one (hint: it’s not the Iron Sheik).
In this conversation with MMA Fighting’s own Ariel Helwani (skip to the 45:40 mark), Sonnen identifies @sonnench as his personal Twitter account. So, case closed on that debate.
Yep, Chael will fit in just fine with the rest of the politicians.
