UFC 121: Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago, Patrick Cote vs. Tom Lawlor

Despite a disappointing return to the welterweight division at UFC 114, Diego Sanchez is giving 170 lbs. another shot. As first discovered by PennyJoMMA.com, the YES! man is expected to square-off against another promising welterweight who underwhelmed in his last outing — Paulo Thiago.

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight, and first reported by Thiago to Brazilian website Tatame.com on Wednesday.

According to Thiago, he has signed his bout agreement for the match-up which will likely end up on either the night’s main card or possibly a Spike TV preliminary match-up.

Another former title contender coming off a disappointing loss will return to action at UFC 121. Patrick Cote will meet wild man Tom Lawlor in a middleweight bout. As much as Cote needs the win, Lawlor may need it more as he’s coming off back-to-back losses against mid-level competition. It’s not crazy to think he’ll be fighting for his job on Oct. 23.

UFC 121 is expected to take place on Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will air live on pay-per-view. The latest UFC 121 fight card can be found in our fight cards section.
