Scott Coker Gives Strikeforce An ‘A+’ For Their First 18 Months On The National Stage

A few tidbits from Scott Coker in these interviews with FIGHT! Magazine:

  • Rates Strikeforce at an A+ in their first 18 months as a major national mixed martial arts fight promotion
  • Tatsuya Kawajiri coming to the states to take on a Strikeforce lightweight, Josh Thomson and JZ Cavalcante named as possible opponents
  • Nick Diaz vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller is a fight that “should happen”
  • Jorge Santiago vs. Kazou Misaki III would be an “amazing” fight to put together on a SF card
  • Ratings for SF Challengers series on Showtime have been “fantastic”
  • Jake Shields’ manager turned down a fight with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza twice
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Dave Batista? “Why not?” Other major promotions have put on freak show fights
  • Working on TV projects, but planning and development keeps getting delayed, a reality show is a definite possibility
  • Possible Gilbert Melendez could fight Shinya Aoki on NYE in Japan
  • Strikeforce will continue to work with DREAM despite reports that fighters aren’t getting paid on time or at all
  • Coker is most excited about the Strikeforce heavyweights fighting each other in 2011, promises they won’t be picking and choosing, SF will make them fight each other… with maybe the exception of Fedor, he’s not sure how much longer they’ll have him.
