EA Sports MMA Producer Says There Will ‘Definitely’ Be A Sequel

Despite only selling an estimated 180,000 units worldwide to date, it appears EA is still going to press on with EA Sports MMA. Or at least that’s what one of the game’s producers is saying.

“There is definitely going to be an EA Sports MMA 2.” That’s the big news coming out of yesterday’s Figure Four Daily interview with EA Sports MMA producer Jeff Ecker, who said that it’s not “if” but “when” there will be a sequel.

I’d feel a lot more confident about this supposed sequel if the confirmation came from one of the EA Sports executives, and not someone directly involved with the game, but if nothing else, there’s now at least reason to be optimistic if you’re hoping for a second installment.

EA aren’t stupid – they know MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world, and even if the initial game recived a lukewarm response, they NEED to be involved in this market, as a key new sport for their roster. The 2nd game might get less funding, a new dev team, or other changes to improve the end result, but they won’t give up that easily.
