Jon Jones Replaces Injured Rashad Evans at UFC 128, Meets Shogun Rua For Light Heavyweight Title

In a very shocking turn of events, Jon Jones will replace an injured Rashad Evans in a light heavyweight title fight against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128. Following Jones’ win over Bader at tonight’s UFC 126 event, Joe Rogan announced that Rashad Evans blew out his knee and Jones has been chosen to replace him. Jones dropped to his knees in disbelief and immediately accepted.

Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole has the details on Evans’ injury.

Evans injured knee yesterday. Sprained ligament according to Dana. Out 6-8 weeks according to Dr Steve Sanders UFC

With the fight scheduled for March 19, it will be very short notice for Jones, but it’s definitely an opportunity that’s too good to pass up.
