What do you do when a fight goes to a draw? You run it again. That’s the what the UFC did with Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard and that’s what they’re doing with BJ Penn and Jon Fitch. The UFC announced earlier today that a welterweight rematch between Penn and Fitch has been agreed to for UFC 132.
Reports of The Prodigy’s retirement have been greatly exaggerated: Dana White confirmed today that BJ Penn and Jon Fitch have verbally agreed to rematch at UFC 132.
The welterweights first met in the main event of UFC 127, a number-one contender bout that ended in a draw. “Both fighters look to keep it out of the hands of the judges this time,” said White.
Penn vs. Fitch II wasn’t the only bout the UFC revealed for UFC 132. They also have verbal agreements for Dennis Siver vs. Matt Wiman and George Sotiropolous vs. Evan Dunham.
