Matt Hughes Wants To Go Out With A Win

Matt Hughes is rapidly approaching the end of his professional fighting career. He tells HDNet’s Ron Kruck that his 37-year old body can’t keep up with the 28-year old competition, though he’s not ready to hang it up just yet. He plans to fight 1-2 times this year at the most beginning in late summer/early fall, but concedes that he doesn’t have many fight left in him. The catch: Because of his highly competitive nature which he describes as a “sickness”, he wants to go out on a win. He doesn’t care if he has to beat up a guy in a wheelchair (he was joking… I think), he just needs to close his career with a W.

Theres a reason why people like Matt – he’s humble, down to earth and a great fighter.

He has had a great career. He is up and down now, though, and time to get a win and be done…

Agreed. Matt has a very grown up mind about thinking of retirement before, in a few years, he starts living dramas like Cro Cop or even Liddel.
