Tomorrow’s UFC on Versus 4 card has taken a major last-minute hit. Several outlets are reporting that Nate Marquardt didn’t get medical clearance and won’t be allowed to headline tomorrow’s show. MMA Junkie is reporting that Charlie Brenneman will face Rick Story instead and Pat Barry vs. Cheick Kongo has been bumped up to the main event slot.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that Marquardt is a late scratch from Sunday’s UFC on Versus 4 event, and opponent Rick Story (13-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) will now instead meet Charlie Brenneman (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) on the evening’s main card.
With the late change, a highly-anticipated heavyweight bout between Pat Barry (6-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and Cheick Kongo (15-6-2 MMA, 8-4-1 UFC) has now been promoted to main-event status.
It’s unclear what caused Marquardt to fail his medicals, but his camp did release a statement explaining that this was only a temporary setback and plans to be back in action as soon as possible.

Update: Wow, so it looks like whatever caused Nate Marquardt to fail his medicals pissed Dana White off enough to make a video announcing his release. It’s still unclear what happened, but MMA Fighting heard from one member of Marquardt’s camp that he “believed he could make weight before commission members ruled him out.”
