Toronto Will Host UFC 140 On Dec. 10

All it takes is a sold-out a baseball stadium to convince the UFC to come back to your city in short order.

ESPN.com is reporting that the UFC will return to Toronto on Dec. 10 for UFC 140.

The UFC is headed back to the city of Toronto for a second time in 2011, where it hosted the most successful show in company history, co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

UFC 140 will take place at the Air Canada Centre on Dec. 10.

It’s important to note that the Air Canada Centre seats up to 20,000, not 55,000 like the Rogers Centre, so this won’t be as big of a show as UFC 129 was. As MMA-crazed as Toronto is though, it will surely be a success.

The question is: Who will headline?

Bocek, Mackdessi Stout and Claude Patrick are all off wins and would be ready, but none are big enough to headline I don’t think.  Hominick is a bigger name, but off a loss.  Looks like the headliner won’t be Canadian!

Yeap, but I think Hominick deserves that …

If they’re going with a title fight it will have to be MW, maybe LHW. Everything else is too close.

They need to do another stadium show. There were thousands, repeat THOUSANDS of people who wanted tickets but couldn’t get them because of the stupid scalping system UFC has with Stubhub (they couldn’t get them or afford their inflated prices). But with a belt holder being the main event they could easily pack another stadium.NY is still unsanctioned. The amount of people from Michigan and NY that would come, let alone the rest of the population of Canada who just want an excuse to check out TO(like me) would pack that baby.

Short sighted move on the UFC’s part, especially considering the slow death of the American economy.
