Rashad Evans Sidelined For Five Weeks With Fractured Thumb

Rashad Evans showed up to the UFC on Fox press conference today with a giant cast on his right hand. He initially thought he only dislocated his thumb immediately following his clash with Tito Ortiz earlier this month, but as he explains to Ariel Helwani above, it turns out there was a fracture and he had to get three pins inserted into it so it would heal properly. The good news is it’s only going to keep him out of training for five weeks, so it shouldn’t affect his title shot in late 2011/early 2012.

Well, it’s good news for Rashad at least. Dan Henderson might be kind of bummed because he really wants to unify the UFC and Strikeforce titles and thinks it would be more beneficial to the UFC for Rashad to wait one more so it can happen.
