The UFC and FOX held a press conference today to get the ball rolling on ticket sales for the Nov. 12 UFC on FOX 1 show in Anaheim.
Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos both gave the type of modest, respectful answers that we’ve come to expect from them. Dana White said he chose this match-up to kick off the FOX deal because there’s no doubt in his mind that this is going to be a great fight whether it lasts 25 seconds or 25 minutes.
No major news was announced at the press conference, but FOX Sports president Eric Shanks did reveal that they’ve already sold-out all their ad inventory for the show, which is a good sign. When asked what they’re ratings expectations are, Shanks joked that it had to beat the “Two and a Half Men”premiere last night that did nearly 30 million viewers, but obviously no one is expecting that.
Dana White says they’re still working out the details on how the rest of the card will be broadcast, but says the fights will be shown one way or another, possibly through Facebook or Fox.com. The one thing Dana is sure about though is how lucky they are to have great partners in FOX.
“When I say Fox has been an amazing partner, they’re not even our partners yet. The deal doesn’t start till January, these guys have gone above and beyond what we ever expected,” said White. “The next seven years are going to be amazing.”
