Nick Diaz’s UFC 143 Post-Fight Interview: ‘I’m Outta This Sh**!’

Here’s video of Nick Diaz’s UFC 143 post-fight interview with Joe Rogan where he sorta retires and complains about Carlos Condit running from him the whole fight.

Transcription via BE:

“I’m not going to accept the fact that this was a loss. I’ve lost fights before, where, uh, ya know, like, I’m not going to accept that either. That ain’t right. I pushed him back the whole fight. I walked him down. I got the take down. I’m the guy who went out on top. Had I thought I wasn’t ahead, I’d have chinned in and finished that arm lock. Hey Carlos is a great guy, I’m happy for him and his family. I think I’m done with this MMA. It’s been great out here. I’ve had a good career. You guys pay me way too much. But I don’t think I’m going to get enough to keep going in this. It’s been a good time. You know Cesar Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Good job Carlos, you’re the man, bro.”

When asked if he was really going to retire by Joe Rogan he said, “You know I don’t need this s**t. You know what I mean? I pushed this guy backwards the whole fight. He ran from me the whole fight. I landed the harder shots. He ran the whole time. He kicked me in my leg a little bit. That was the way they understand to win in here, I don’t want to play this game no more. I’ll help out my team and my brother but I’m outta this s**t.”

The biggest takeaway here since I seriously doubt he’ll actually retire: Now Nick thinks he’s overpaid. Love it!

    he has a point!

First off I’ll admit im a Diaz fan and was biased still am a lil ,but truthfully Nick played a points game or point style fight too,  I mean cmon he needs to watch that tape and realize he didnt do enough to convince the majority of the fans, fellow fighters, and MOST IMPORTANT THE DAMN JUDGES.. that he was the victor from that scrap.  Carlos did do enough to earn a decision W but it wasnt always pretty. In comparison to Nick though he did throw flashy striking techniques that were more effective and landed more frequent.  Now Nick was being aggressive but not sure if he was more aggresive than Carlos ?  and how effective was his strategy of Walking Condit down trying to cut him off long enough to land combos = he didnt have much success and didnt land much strikes.  He did gain some clinches against the cage but was quickly avoided by Condit or quickly transitioned out of.  He shot for one takedown which made me happy but didnt have success with it, and when he took Carlos’ back at the end he should of been more active and showed a lil more urgency to finish throughout the whole fight after the 3rd actually but a lil more from him a lil earlier with that back control and drag down takedown he had would of made a stronger case for him but still thats not how he wants to fight and win fights by just barely out pointing guys !  I think fans need to put on their therapist hats or simply think psychology and look from his angle/perspective and realize he now knows how guys will try to fight him in the UFC at that level, they wont allow him to play his game and throw combos till they run out of breathe and end up like BJ Penn did that fight.  They probably knew how to strategize like Condit did and how to take him out of his comfort zone and make him break mentally from not being able to showcase his skills like he wants to.  He saw that 170 guys will make boring fights with him with stalling neutralizing gameplans & styles when they fight him. He doesnt want that and has stated before repeatedly how the scoring system & unified rules in ZUFFA are not good for the REAL FIGHTERS who dont look to waste time to win fights from JUDGES opinions.  He likes the Pride rules and how the Ref’s would take points from stalling and simply put not wanting to fight !  He isnt a strong wrestler and would have to overcome alot each n every fight to win decisions with these stupid rules and HE DOESNT WANT TO RESORT TO PLAYING THE GAMES like Greg Jackson’s fighters do by stalling and neutralizing guys to win on points when most of them are exciting fighters to watch with good techinical skills enough so to just go for it and leave it out there for themselves and fans.  But hey they are the fighters and can choose to do whatever they wants as it’s there face &^ bodies who take damage and are at risk so whatever ?   He could of still won that fight and probably finished it on the feet or on the ground but ONLY IF HE WAS TOLD THE REAL SCORE OF THOSE ROUNDS while with his corner in between rounds.  I said it then and will say it again  His team should of done better and maybe Gil would of said something that needed to be said –  Nick  Im not sure how the judges are scoring this fight it doesnt look safe for us to keep fighting like this – lets change it up and show me some urgency out there show me something other than stalking him and throwing kicks to the air or missing on punches when he circles or “runs” away-  cut him off damnit and lets show more dominance in these rounds –  He needed to find an answer for what Carlos was doing even though yes he was running and yes he wasnt hurting him-  have some intuition and show everyone what he is capable of –  he didnt it sucks.

Once a douche, always a douche. He lost the fight. I understand he’s a good fighter. But just good! The only people that thought he wont that fight was him, his brother, and his mom. If BJ Penn had stamina for a 3 (not to mention a 5 round fight) he would have messed him up. This fight wasn’t even close! Moving forward means nothing…. Acting like a thug, bar room brawler, with taunting should be a 2 point deduction everytime. Be a professional! This is his job. Acting like a bitch is just pathetic!!!

    • http://twitter.com/Warriordave927 warriordave927

The taunting I could live with, where I think a point should’ve been deducted was at the point in between rounds where diaz grabbed Carlos’s leg and wouldn’t let go,I know he was clowning around to get Condit off his game but try that during the 25 minutes you had to fight and when Condit can actually swing at you

    • Samta11

Your pathetic, moving forward does mean something it’s called OCTAGON CONTROL. ”The only people that thought he ”won” that fight was him, his brother, and his mom” i guess 90% of UFC fighters don’t count towards knowing Diaz won the fight? check out twitter and most people who watched that fight thought Diaz won. Diaz haters so pathetic.

no he didn’t, idiot. Moving forward gives you points? Octagon Control?? Are you serious? how so you foking retard?

    • Samta11

Oh sorry Monster i ment if you run away for 5 rounds, that equals octagon control….”foking retards?” these days.

  • Windedprism

    Wow the latest mma buzz?
    Robbed!
    It was 1,3,4 condit
    2,5 Diaz

Everytime Condit had his back to the cage he escaped and struck on the way out. Condit would have been very stupid to stand and bang with Diaz, he didn’t fall for his mocking. Diaz lost and that’s it. As for retiring, I hope it’s just heat of the moment, for a while Diaz was looking better from a public image pov but bitching is bitching. He’s 28 not 18 time to grow up a little bit.

let’s hear the same old s**t: never leave it to the judges. Whether who won or lost that fight, the deal is, if the cry baby Diaz doens’t want to loose a fight like that, he better start fighting like Jones or Anderson…
We have Edgar x Maynard II, Shogun x Henderson, Shogun x Lyoto, Rampage x Lyoto, and even Sonnen x Bisping,  and several other fights that had (or not) controversial decisions; but I’ve seen no one crying like that, and saying he’s leaving the sport due to that.

And Condit played his game, whether it’s nice to watch or not… that’s called strategy! and the coaches are there because of that… if Diaz leaves the UFC, he’ll be targeted like that in any other sports he may wannna play.

Diaz fans are just as dumb and cry just like him! Diaz can’t even put a full sentence together and his fans can’t spell, I see a trend here!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZG6YNZTDLJBSMXAW7NSCN6B2AU Jesse

Legs kicks count! understand that. Wow! Never thought I’d hear Nick call his opponent the man. Carlos had an excellent strategy whether any1 likes it or not.

  • MAS

I was hoping for Diaz vs. GSP fight. After the end of the fight, I thought they would “give” it to Diaz, due to most everyone wanting to see Nick fight GSP. (Similar to Sonnen vs. Bisbing- which I wanted Chael to win because I want to see the rematch between him and Silva) Like someone said, leave it to the judges and you never know which way they will see it. Although, I don’t think Nick left it to the judges…He was going for a knockout and Carlos kept avoiding confrontation. Therefore, it was out of Nick’s hands. Obviously, Carlos didn’t have confidence to bang with Nick, makes me think that had he of, he would have lost. If it were a street fight I think Nick would win, but it’s not…It’s the UFC and there are rules and it’s a point system. Therefore, Carlos did what he needed to to win the fight. Both great fighters…Can’t really tell if Nick is acting like a baby, due to it was an emotional loss and can’t blame the guy for feeling robbed. Give him some time. Hard to say how you would react if you were in his shoe’s having felt you didn’t get beat and your opponent ran away from you the whole time. Hope Nick Diaz doesn’t quit.

  • Suresh2389

Diaz is a great fighter.. no doubt.  But he lost yesterday in a close fight.. I had 3 rounds to 2 for
Carlos. Guess most people scored the same way.  Carlos was the man yesterday
and I Nick needs to accept it.  Great Champions do lose a fight or two but they come back as champions..  I think Carlos did enough to win the fight and his strategy worked very well to win him the championship..

  • Maxshuty

I hope he retires, no need for someone like him in the sport. He clearly lost the fight. The first round is really the only round I would have given him. Then the taunting was just unsportsmanlike, especially after round 2 or 3 when he knew the round was over and threw a big hook at condit and the following round grabbed his leg and wouldn’t let go. If I was ref I would have warned him then started point deductions for those

    • C dizzle

There’s no need for a highly talented athlete in the sport? Sounds dumb, deducting points for unsportsmanlike conduct is a stupid idea. The only reason why that fight was entertaining at all is because Nick Diaz was in it.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/4IS7FVXOYIQO7DWKYOESDKHFHM Exhausted and in absolute desp

Carlos ran – Diaz had Octagon Control/Aggression – The UFC sucks anymore. They really need rules like old Pride. The UFC hasn’t been set up for men in a long time.

  • ladysupreme

diaz 1, 2 and 5..condit 3 and 4..how that is unanimous decision idk!! but whtev, you can’t be mad at nick for coming to fight in a fight!! I’m just saying, condit river danced his way through..sad shit!!

  • ufc811232

No doubt….Diaz WON period. I have nothing against Condit but he ran around the entire fight like a little b***ch. Carlos has skills but he sure didnt live up to his talk from the second they ref said ” lets get it on”. I hope Nick doesnt call it quits. He is a great fighter and the sport needs real fighters like the Diaz brothers. Win or Lose these Diaz Bros come out to fight. GSP is going to beat the crap out of Carlos. Nick would have been a much better opponent. Well, I hope he comes back.

  • Timunster

    What.

    A retard.

  • Kodiakkid41

if he’s such a good boxer, maybe he should try it, if he doesn’t think he lost like everyone else its cool to complain some, but there is a point where we have to MAN-UP and take consequences for everything we do, him maybe leaving it to the judges.  Everyone has problems, so what a fight. If that were all most people had wrong in there lives.  People losing there jobs, homes, all kinds of stuff, all this crying for a fight.

  • MAS

Nick Diaz lost. It’s over. Call Dana White and tell him that the judges made a mistake and they need to hand the belt over to Nick. What do you think he will tell you?… Nick’s taunting…awesome. If you don’t like that stuff, you’re a pussy. Ali talked shit and that was one of the added things that made he and boxing so exciting. So what if he was pissed that he lost the fight. If you were in his shoe’s and didn’t get beat up, so to speak, and the guy you were fighting wouldn’t brawl with you and you chased him around the octagon for 25 mins, you might be upset too. After the fight, he gave respect to Condit. For you dumb asses that want Nick to go….you guys are fucking pussies. You’re following the wrong sport. Maybe you should try watching ballet. Congrats to Carlos Condit.

  • Dsandoval 1771

All you Diaz nut huggers are retarded and stupid. Condit won. He moved in and out and did more damage. It’s not a bar fight it’s a mma fight and he clearly won. Diaz isn’t even that good, and he defiantly wouldn’t have bean st. Peirre. He’s a whiny bitch just like you Diaz dick lovers. Get over the fact the he clearly lost!

  • Im_a_duke_fan

“OCTAGON CONTROL” implies that you have control of your opponent… It was a great gameplan… Hmmmm, Condit won! Even Dana said so…. HaHa. And as for my earlier comment about taunting being a deduction, Guys’ like Anderson Silva, who taunt, but finish fights, would never have to worry about that. And for the retard talking about if Nick Diaz caught someone in person??? Shouldn’t he win that fight??? He IS a professional fighter… Listen… I’m not here to get all you retards upset… Nick LOST! I guess that hasn’t set in yet… I don’t like all the running around, but what was his options? To stand against the cage and get beat down? He wasn’t as tired as BJ was… UFC fighters should finish fights, or win convincingly… It IS really that simple…..
