Thiago Silva Replaces Injured Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Fights Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on FUEL 2

The UFC announced a major change to the UFC on FUEL 2 main event today.

According to, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has suffered a knee injury and will not be able to fight Alexander Gustafsson on the card. Sweden doesn’t have to start singing the blues though, because they also announced that Thiago Silva is already set to replace him.

Following a knee injury suffered in training for his April 14th bout against Alexander Gustafsson, Rogerio Nogueira has been forced to withdraw from the UFC on FUEL TV main event in Stockholm, Sweden. Stepping in for Lil’ Nog will be another hard-hitting Brazilian, Thiago Silva, who is returning to the Octagon for the first time since January of 2011.

Silva was previously set to face Igor Pokrajac at UFC on FUEL 3 in Fairfax, Virginia. It’s unclear who will fight Pokrajac now, but at least they managed to save the more pressing card.

a pity that Lil NOg got injured… I was expecting this fight. But if Silva is in shape indeed, there’s a huge fight coming also.

This is the first big (and also dangerous) test for Gustafson imo. All his previous fights, except for Davies, were kinda easy and didn’t reviel too much about him. Let’s hope this one does.

This is a more fitting opponent for Thiago. I’ve never really seen Pokrajac fight before so I kind of thought they were giving him an easy opponent. This is going to be interesting though.

Igor is def a tough apponent, but not close to the caliber Silva should be fighting. Alex is a much better match for him and will be a test for both to see his is gonna jump in the 205 ranks.

        Who is, not his is^
