Ross Pearson’s move to the UFC’s featherweight ranks has been a quick transition.
The former winner of The Ultimate Fighter dropped down to the division after going 1-2 in his three previous fights in the lightweight class. A win over Junior Assuncao finished out his 2011, and Pearson has pushed for a top contender in the featherweight division.
Swanson (16-5) recently won his first UFC fight, defeating George Roop. The former multi-time fighter in the WEC had dropped his debut to Ricardo Lamas and has alternated wins and losses in his last seven fights.
While Pearson (13-5) may have been looking for a more highly-regarded challenger, Swanson is a known name around the weight class and could provide him a sound challenge. If the Brit takes care of Swanson, expect a top-flight fight later this year for him.
