Chael Sonnen is dead-set on learning from his loss to Anderson Silva via triangle choke in the fifth round.
Sonnen, who was winning the fight on all three scorecards before “The Spider” caught him and forced the submission, will be training with second-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Vinny Magalhaes, according to Magalhaes’ Twitter account.
Forget about my last post about competing. Instead, I’m heading to Oregon to help the UFC MW (middleweight) Champ get ready for his title fight in Brazil.
Referring to Sonnen as the champion is something Sonnen himself has done since falling to Silva, as he believes he won the title because he won the fight. Silva, of course, will enter the fight as the UFC middleweight champion.
Magalhaes is currently a free agent after leaving M-1 as its champion because of a contract issue. He is a former runner-up on The Ultimate Fighter, and has won his last five fights.
Silva-Sonnen 2 takes place in June at UFC 147 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sonnen’s decision to bring in someone with the credentials of Magalhaes shows that he does want to improve his game, and hopefully avoid another submission by Silva.
