Brian Stann will look to get back on track later today when he meets Alessio Sakara in the co-main event of UFC on FUEL TV 2: Gustafsson vs. Silva.
If things go the way Stann hopes, he’ll move right back into contention in the UFC’s middleweight division, possibly setting himself up for a match with Michael Bisping down the road. Stann talked about the prospects of facing the British fighter in his native country of England in a recent interview with ESPN.
“A decisive victory Saturday puts me back among those names. Bisping had a really good performance against (Chael) Sonnen, so I’d have to have another couple of wins before I get a shot at a guy like him. He’s (Bisping) one of the top middleweights out there. It makes sense from a style point of view, from a marketable view – it’s a fight a lot of fans ask for. I would love to fight in England. I’ve served with members of their military and they were fantastic.”
Stann isn’t looking past Sakara, who he believes will want to stand and trade punches with him from Sweden’s Ericcson Globe Arena. Bisping is currently set to face Tim Boetsch at UFC 148, while rumors of a return to England have started popping up for the UFC in the summer.
