Hector Lombard’s Future – Bellator Or UFC – Will Be Decided Rather Quickly

Bellator Fighting Championships CEO Bjorn Rebney has received the contract proposal from the UFC for his current middleweight champion, Hector Lombard.

In a recent interview with Sherdog, Rebney confirmed that Lombard’s attorney has sent the UFC contract to Bellator. Now, Bellator will decide if they want to match, or allow Lombard to sign with the UFC.

Out of respect for Hector, I think we will turn (the contract) around very quickly. Obviously, we have a huge event coming up. As soon as that is over, we will sit down with our partners and go through the UFC contract line-for-line and make a strategic decision whether we’re going to match it or pass. (If we pass we will) wish him the best and let him go knock out everybody in the UFC.

Lombard is 31-2-1 with one no-contest in his career. He is the only Bellator middleweight champion in promotion history, and has not lost a fight since 2006 when Gegard Mousasi earned a decision over him.
