Kenny Florian Gives Alexander Gustafsson Plenty Of Props For Win Over Thiago Silva

Alexander Gustafsson made a name for himself in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva, defeating Thiago Silva via decision.

Kenny Florian, who was sitting Octagon-side as an analyst for the card, talked about Gustafsson’s performance on Tuesday night’s “UFC Tonight.”

He was on fire that night. I thought it was a brilliant performance. The way he was moving around the cage, he looked like a veteran. There must have been a lot of pressure on him in his home town. He looked so poised and fluid. This was a tough fight, but he made it look easy out there.

“The Mauler” has won five consecutive bouts since a submission loss to Phil Davis, holding career record of 14-1. He is 6-1 inside the Octagon.

I think this was a huge fight for him. This was the biggest test of his career. He’s one of the top in the 205 class, but I don’t think he’s ready for Jon Jones yet. The sky’s the limit for him.

Gustafsson likely needs another big win or two to move to the front of the pack in the division, as Jones and Rashad Evans meet this Saturday night. Also, Dan Henderson is looking to cash in a shot at the belt, leaving Gustafsson down the line.
