Anderson Silva On Chael Sonnen: ‘He’s A Wrestler, He Doesn’t Know How To Respect People’

Seems like UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva may have provoked a response he wasn’t intending to provoke during the special press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Tuesday.

Silva’s title contest with Chael Sonnen has been moved from UFC 147 in Brazil to UFC 148 in Las Vegas. The champion wasn’t all-too-pleased with the switch, and wasn’t real happy with Sonnen’s antics, either.

When I started training martial arts I learned about respect. Sonnen doesn’t know martial arts. He’s a wrestler, he doesn’t know how to respect people. Some say he’s promoting the fight, but he disrespected my country, my family and fans.

Sonnen poked fun at Silva’s friend and training partner, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, during the press conference. Sonnen put on a fake pair of glasses, complete with a plastic nose, and said he wore them to enter Brazil.

This rematch has all the makings of what the Jon Jones-Rashad Evans bout didn’t; explosion. Silva will not just sit around and let Sonnen survive any big shots, while Sonnen is going to do all he can do put “The Spider” on the mat and keep him there.
